Two recently restored cottages offering affordable luxury self-catering accommodation. Just one and a half miles outside Hay-on-Wye, Penyrwrlodd Farm Cottages offer a warm welcome and friendly hosts. The Meeting House and Bryn Bwthyn are internally linked together and can sleep up to 17 people.

Come and enjoy our spectacular views. These historic, new, spacious holiday houses have been beautifully furnished and are very well equipped. Set on a farm near to Hay-on-Wye, in the Black Mountains, Penyrwrlodd Farm Cottages consist of the Meeting House (which sleeps from 6 - 9 people in 4 bedrooms) and the adjoining Bryn Bwthyn (which sleeps from 4 - 8 people in 4 bedrooms). Perfect for family get-togethers, the two houses are interlinked and can sleep up to 17 in total (all 17 can be seated to dine together). Changeovers are usually Friday to Friday or Friday to Monday, but this is flexible. Additional cots and mattresses are available for young children.

The Meeting House and Bryn Bwthyn are recommended as an excellent base for exploring the market town of Hay-on-Wye which is only 1.5 miles by road or a 40-minute wander over the hill along the footpath. It is also perfect for exploring the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and the Wye River Valley.

The Town of Books, ice cream, and great independent shops
Hay-on-Wye, the 'Town of Books’, offers hours of interesting browsing. It is a very popular destination for visitors with its many bistros, boutiques, clothes shops, antiques dealers, galleries and some fascinating independent shops offering crafts and fashionable interiors among many other things; and, of course, the many second hand bookshops. There are excellent pubs and restaurants and probably the best ice cream that you will ever taste in Shepherds Parlour!
Beautiful mountains and countryside walks on your doorstep
The phenomenal views will leave you desperate to explore the area further and try the beautiful walks from your door. You will be very near to the Offa’s Dyke Path and the National Cycle Sustrans routes 8 and 42. It’s only a short distance to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the famous Pen y Fan mountain for more adventurous walkers.
A multitude of activities for all ages
Further activities such as canoeing down the Wye, local trekking centres from where you can go riding in the mountains, an excellent indoor climbing centre with outdoor zip wires, wild swimming, local private hire of indoor swimming pool and sauna in Hay, hang gliding, paragliding, gliding, rock climbing, abseiling, off-road driving, paint-balling, orienteering and quad biking can all be arranged on discussion with the owner.
Watersports, fishing and sublime scenery
Llangorse lake is nearby and ideal for those who have sailing dinghies or windsurfers. Local fishing on the Wye or Usk can be arranged if booked in advance. It is also an easy drive up to Hay Bluff where there are wild ponies and sheep dotting the hillsides, and then over the Gospel Pass to Capel-y-ffin and the Llanthony Valley.
Discover a historic landscape
The Gospel Pass itself has been a way through the Vale of Ewyas since the Iron Age, and taking the route through the mountains yourself, you will be struck by how little it has changed since those times. It leads down to Llanthony Abbey, one of the earliest monasteries founded in Britain. Entry is free, but take a little money and treat yourself to a drink from the charming bar located in the old cellars and then sit in the atmospheric grounds of this 13th century ruin.
